How we score
An open formula, not a black box
Every score is a position-weighted average of the ingredients' hazard ratings. Ingredients at the top of the INCI list weigh more, because that is where the concentration is. Published toxicology goes in, a transparent 1–10 score comes out.

Fair questions, straight answers
Is Clean Skin free?
Yes. Scanning, search, safety scores and favorites are free with no limits. Every device also gets 3 enhanced label recognitions and 1 photo skin analysis for free. Pro removes those limits and adds the AI assistant.
Do I need a barcode?
No. Clean Skin reads the ingredient list itself, so it works for products no database has ever seen, including small and local brands. You can also paste the list from a website.
Where do the scores come from?
From published toxicology and dermatology research. Each ingredient carries a hazard rating; the product score is a position-weighted average, and the formula is open.
Which labels can it read?
Any label with an INCI list, which is the standard across the EU, the UK, the US and most of the world, plus Russian-language labels common in Belarus and the EAEU.
Is this medical advice?
No. We help you read labels and understand research. For skin conditions, see a dermatologist, and bring your scan history along.
What happens to my data?
Scans and profile are stored securely, used only to run the app, and you can delete everything from your account at any time. Photos are processed for the result and not kept.
